Annasutta Food Food
āAnnamevÄbhinandanti, āBoth gods and humans āThey always take delight in food,
ubhaye devamÄnusÄ; enjoy their food. Both devas and human beings.
Atha ko nÄma so yakkho, So whatās the name of the spirit So what sort of spirit could it be
yaį¹ annaį¹ nÄbhinandatÄ«āti. who doesnāt enjoy food?ā That does not take delight in food?ā
āYe naį¹ dadanti saddhÄya, āThose who give with faith āWhen they give out of faith
vippasannena cetasÄ; and a clear and confident heart, With a heart of confidence,
Tameva annaį¹ bhajati, partake of food Food accrues to the giver himself
asmiį¹ loke paramhi ca. in this world and the next. Both in this world and the next.
TasmÄ vineyya maccheraį¹, So you should dispel stinginess, āTherefore, having removed stinginess,
dajjÄ dÄnaį¹ malÄbhibhÅ«; overcoming that stain, and give a gift. The conqueror of the stain should give a gift.
PuƱƱÄni paralokasmiį¹, The good deeds of sentient beings Merits are the support for living beings
