Bhītāsutta Afraid Afraid

ā€œKiį¹sÅ«dha bhÄ«tā janatā anekā, ā€œWhy are so many people here afraid, ā€œWhy are so many people here afraid

Maggo canekāyatanappavutto; when the path has been taught with so many dimensions? When the path has been taught with many bases?

Pucchāmi taį¹ gotama bhÅ«ripaƱƱa, I ask you, Gotama, whose wisdom is vast: I ask you, O Gotama, broad of wisdom:

Kismiį¹ į¹­hito paralokaį¹ na bhāyeā€ti. Standing on what need one not fear the next world?ā€ On what should one take a stand To have no fear of the other world?ā€

ā€œVācaį¹ manaƱca paį¹‡idhāya sammā, ā€œWhen speech and mind are directed right, ā€œHaving directed speech and mind rightly,

Kāyena pāpāni akubbamāno; and you donā€™t do anything bad with the body Doing no evil deeds with the body,

Bahvannapānaį¹ gharamāvasanto, while dwelling at home with plenty of food and drink. Dwelling at home with ample food and drink,

Saddho mudÅ« saį¹vibhāgÄ« vadaĆ±Ć±Å«; Faithful, gentle, charitable, and bountiful: Faithful, gentle, generous, amiable:

Etesu dhammesu į¹­hito catÅ«su, standing on these four principles, When one stands on these four things,

Dhamme į¹­hito paralokaį¹ na bhāyeā€ti. standing on the teaching one need not fear the next world.ā€ Standing firmly on the Dhamma, One need not fear the other world. ā€
