Ekamantaį¹ į¹hito kho kassapo devaputto bhagavato santike imaį¹ gÄthaį¹ abhÄsi: Standing to one side, the god Kassapa recited this verse in the Buddhaās presence: Standing to one side, the young deva Kassapa recited this verse in the presence of the Blessed One:
āBhikkhu siyÄ jhÄyÄ« vimuttacitto, āSuppose a mendicant is a meditator, freed in mind. āA bhikkhu should be a meditator,

khe ce hadayassÄnupattiį¹; If they want to reach the heartās peace, One who is liberated in mind, If he desires the heartās attainment,
Lokassa ƱatvÄ udayabbayaƱca, having known the arising and passing of the world, Having known the worldās rise and fall,
Sucetaso anissito tadÄnisaį¹soāti. good-hearted, independent, that is their reward.ā Let him be lofty in mind and unattached, bent on that as his advantage.ā
