Ekaį¹ samayaį¹ bhagavÄ rÄjagahe viharati veįø·uvane kalandakanivÄpe. At one time the Buddha was staying near RÄjagaha, in the Bamboo Grove, the squirrelsā feeding ground. On one occasion the Blessed One was dwelling at RÄjagaha in the Bamboo Grove, the Squirrel Sanctuary.

Angry and displeased he went to the Buddha and stood silently to one side. āIt is said that the brahmin of the BhÄradvÄja clan has gone forth from the household life into homelessness under the ascetic Gotama. ā Angry and displeased, he approached the Blessed One and silently stood to one side.

āYo appaduį¹į¹hassa narassa dussati, āWhoever wrongs a man who has done no wrong, āIf one wrongs an innocent man,
Suddhassa posassa anaį¹
gaį¹assa; a pure man who has not a blemish, A pure person without blemish,
Tameva bÄlaį¹ pacceti pÄpaį¹, the evil backfires on the fool, The evil falls back on the fool himself
Sukhumo rajo paį¹ivÄtaį¹va khittoāti. like fine dust thrown upwind.ā Like fine dust thrown against the wind. ā

āabhikkantaį¹, bho gotama ā¦peā¦ āExcellent, worthy Gotama! ā¦ā ā¦ āMagnificent, Master Gotama!ā¦ ā
abbhaƱƱÄsi.
AƱƱataro ca panÄyasmÄ bhÄradvÄjo arahataį¹ ahosÄ«ti. And Venerable BhÄradvÄja became one of the perfected. And the Venerable BhÄradvÄja became one of the arahants.
