Atha kho sakko devānamindo yena bhagavā tenupasaį¹…kami; upasaį¹…kamitvā bhagavantaį¹ abhivādetvā ekamantaį¹ aį¹­į¹­hāsi. Ekamantaį¹ į¹­hito kho sakko devānamindo bhagavantaį¹ etadavoca: And then Sakka, lord of gods, went up to the Buddha, bowed, stood to one side, and said to him, Then Sakka, lord of the devas, approached the Blessed One, paid homage to him, stood to one side, and said to him:

ā€œkiį¹ nu kho, bhante, bhÅ«mirāmaį¹‡eyyakanā€ti? ā€œSir, what is a delightful place?ā€ ā€œVenerable sir, what is a delightful place?ā€

ā€œÄ€rāmacetyā vanacetyā, ā€œShrines in parks and forests, ā€œShrines in parks and woodland shrines,

pokkharaƱƱo sunimmitā; well-made lotus ponds, Well-constructed lotus ponds:

Manussarāmaį¹‡eyyassa, are not worth a sixteenth part Of a delightful human being

kalaį¹ nāgghanti soįø·asiį¹. of a delightful human being. These are not worth a sixteenth part.

Gāme vā yadi vāraƱƱe, Whether in village or wilderness, Whether in a village or forest,

Ninne vā yadi vā thale; in a valley or the uplands, In a valley or on the plainā€”

Yattha arahanto viharanti, wherever the perfected ones live Wherever the arahants dwell

Taį¹ bhÅ«mirāmaį¹‡eyyakanā€ti. is a delightful place.ā€ Is truly a delightful place.ā€
