ā€œSeyyathāpi, bhikkhave, mahāsamuddo parikkhayaį¹ pariyādānaį¹ gaccheyya, į¹­hapetvā dve vā tÄ«į¹‡i vā udakaphusitāni. ā€œMendicants, suppose the water in the ocean dried up and evaporated except for two or three drops.

Taį¹ kiį¹ maƱƱatha, bhikkhave, What do you think, mendicants?

katamaį¹ nu kho bahutaraį¹, yaį¹ vā mahāsamudde udakaį¹ parikkhÄ«į¹‡aį¹ pariyādiį¹‡į¹‡aį¹ yāni vā dve vā tÄ«į¹‡i vā udakaphusitāni avasiį¹­į¹­hānÄ«ā€ti? Which is more: the water in the ocean that has dried up and evaporated, or the two or three drops left?ā€

ā€œEtadeva, bhante, bahutaraį¹ mahāsamudde udakaį¹, yadidaį¹ parikkhÄ«į¹‡aį¹ pariyādiį¹‡į¹‡aį¹; ā€œSir, the water in the ocean that has dried up and evaporated is certainly more.

appamattakāni dve vā tÄ«į¹‡i vā udakaphusitāni avasiį¹­į¹­hāni. The two or three drops left are tiny.

Neva satimaį¹ kalaį¹ upenti na sahassimaį¹ kalaį¹ upenti na satasahassimaį¹ kalaį¹ upenti mahāsamudde udakaį¹ parikkhÄ«į¹‡aį¹ pariyādiį¹‡į¹‡aį¹ upanidhāya dve vā tÄ«į¹‡i vā udakaphusitāni avasiį¹­į¹­hānÄ«ā€ti. Compared to the water in the ocean that has dried up and evaporated, itā€™s not nearly a hundredth, a thousandth, or a hundred thousandth part.ā€
