Ekaį¹ samayaį¹ bhagavÄ rÄjagahe viharati gijjhakÅ«į¹e pabbate. At one time the Buddha was staying near RÄjagaha, on the Vultureās Peak Mountain.
Tena kho pana samayena ÄyasmÄ sÄriputto sambahulehi bhikkhÅ«hi saddhiį¹ bhagavato avidÅ«re caį¹
kamati; Now at that time Venerable SÄriputta was walking together with several mendicants not far from the Buddha.
ÄyasmÄpi kho mahÄmoggallÄno sambahulehi bhikkhÅ«hi saddhiį¹ bhagavato avidÅ«re caį¹
kamati; Venerable MahÄmoggallÄna was doing likewise, as were
ÄyasmÄpi kho mahÄkassapo sambahulehi bhikkhÅ«hi saddhiį¹ bhagavato avidÅ«re caį¹

āpassatha no tumhe, bhikkhave, sÄriputtaį¹ sambahulehi bhikkhÅ«hi saddhiį¹ caį¹
kamantanāti? āMendicants, do you see SÄriputta walking together with several mendicants?ā
āEvaį¹, bhanteā. āYes, sir.ā
āSabbe kho ete, bhikkhave, bhikkhÅ« mahÄpaƱƱÄ. āAll of those mendicants have great wisdom.
Passatha no tumhe, bhikkhave, moggallÄnaį¹ sambahulehi bhikkhÅ«hi saddhiį¹ caį¹
kamantanāti? Do you see MoggallÄna walking together with several mendicants?ā
āEvaį¹, bhanteā. āYes, sir.ā
āSabbe kho ete, bhikkhave, bhikkhÅ« mahiddhikÄ. āAll of those mendicants have great psychic power.
Passatha no tumhe, bhikkhave, kassapaį¹ sambahulehi bhikkhÅ«hi saddhiį¹ caį¹
kamantanāti? Do you see Kassapa walking together with several mendicants?ā
āEvaį¹, bhanteā. āYes, sir.ā
āSabbe kho ete, bhikkhave, bhikkhÅ« dhutavÄdÄ. āAll of those mendicants advocate austerities.
Passatha no tumhe, bhikkhave, anuruddhaį¹ sambahulehi bhikkhÅ«hi saddhiį¹ caį¹
kamantanāti? Do you see Anuruddha walking together with several mendicants?ā
āEvaį¹, bhanteā. āYes, sir.ā
āSabbe kho ete, bhikkhave, bhikkhÅ« dibbacakkhukÄ. āAll of those mendicants have clairvoyance.
Passatha no tumhe, bhikkhave, puį¹į¹aį¹ mantÄniputtaį¹ sambahulehi bhikkhÅ«hi saddhiį¹ caį¹
kamantanāti? Do you see Puį¹į¹a son of MantÄį¹Ä« walking together with several mendicants?ā
āEvaį¹, bhanteā. āYes, sir.ā
āSabbe kho ete, bhikkhave, bhikkhÅ« dhammakathikÄ. āAll of those mendicants are Dhamma speakers.
Passatha no tumhe, bhikkhave, upÄliį¹ sambahulehi bhikkhÅ«hi saddhiį¹ caį¹
kamantanāti? Do you see UpÄli walking together with several mendicants?ā
āEvaį¹, bhanteā. āYes, sir.ā
āSabbe kho ete, bhikkhave, bhikkhÅ« vinayadharÄ. āAll of those mendicants are experts in monastic law.
Passatha no tumhe, bhikkhave, Änandaį¹ sambahulehi bhikkhÅ«hi saddhiį¹ caį¹
kamantanāti? Do you see Änanda walking together with several mendicants?ā
āEvaį¹, bhanteā. āYes, sir.ā
āSabbe kho ete, bhikkhave, bhikkhÅ« bahussutÄ. āAll of those mendicants are very learned.
Passatha no tumhe, bhikkhave, devadattaį¹ sambahulehi bhikkhÅ«hi saddhiį¹ caį¹
kamantanāti? Do you see Devadatta walking together with several mendicants?ā
āEvaį¹, bhanteā. āYes, sir.ā
āSabbe kho ete, bhikkhave, bhikkhÅ« pÄpicchÄ. āAll of those mendicants have corrupt wishes.
DhÄtusova, bhikkhave, sattÄ saį¹sandanti samenti. Sentient beings come together and converge because of an element.
HÄ«nÄdhimuttikÄ hÄ«nÄdhimuttikehi saddhiį¹ saį¹sandanti samenti; Those who have bad convictions come together and converge with those who have bad convictions.
kalyÄį¹ÄdhimuttikÄ kalyÄį¹Ädhimuttikehi saddhiį¹ saį¹sandanti samenti. Those who have good convictions come together and converge with those who have good convictions.
AtÄ«tampi kho, bhikkhave, addhÄnaį¹ dhÄtusova sattÄ saį¹sandiį¹su samiį¹su. In the past,
HÄ«nÄdhimuttikÄ hÄ«nÄdhimuttikehi saddhiį¹ saį¹sandiį¹su samiį¹su;
kalyÄį¹ÄdhimuttikÄ kalyÄį¹Ädhimuttikehi saddhiį¹ saį¹sandiį¹su samiį¹su.
AnÄgatampi kho, bhikkhave, addhÄnaį¹ dhÄtusova sattÄ saį¹sandissanti samessanti. in the future,
HÄ«nÄdhimuttikÄ hÄ«nÄdhimuttikehi saddhiį¹ saį¹sandissanti samessanti;
kalyÄį¹ÄdhimuttikÄ kalyÄį¹Ädhimuttikehi saddhiį¹ saį¹sandissanti samessanti.
Etarahipi kho, bhikkhave, paccuppannaį¹ addhÄnaį¹ dhÄtusova sattÄ saį¹sandanti samenti. and also in the present, sentient beings come together and converge because of an element.
HÄ«nÄdhimuttikÄ hÄ«nÄdhimuttikehi saddhiį¹ saį¹sandanti samenti; Those who have bad convictions come together and converge with those who have bad convictions.
kalyÄį¹ÄdhimuttikÄ kalyÄį¹Ädhimuttikehi saddhiį¹ saį¹sandanti samentÄ«āti. Those who have good convictions come together and converge with those who have good convictions.ā
