Caį¹…kamasutta Walking Together

Ekaį¹ samayaį¹ bhagavā rājagahe viharati gijjhakÅ«į¹­e pabbate. At one time the Buddha was staying near Rājagaha, on the Vultureā€™s Peak Mountain.

Tena kho pana samayena āyasmā sāriputto sambahulehi bhikkhÅ«hi saddhiį¹ bhagavato avidÅ«re caį¹…kamati; Now at that time Venerable Sāriputta was walking together with several mendicants not far from the Buddha.

āyasmāpi kho mahāmoggallāno sambahulehi bhikkhÅ«hi saddhiį¹ bhagavato avidÅ«re caį¹…kamati; Venerable Mahāmoggallāna was doing likewise, as were

āyasmāpi kho mahākassapo sambahulehi bhikkhÅ«hi saddhiį¹ bhagavato avidÅ«re caį¹…kamati; Venerable Mahākassapa,

āyasmāpi kho anuruddho sambahulehi bhikkhÅ«hi saddhiį¹ bhagavato avidÅ«re caį¹…kamati; Venerable Anuruddha,

āyasmāpi kho puį¹‡į¹‡o mantāniputto sambahulehi bhikkhÅ«hi saddhiį¹ bhagavato avidÅ«re caį¹…kamati; Venerable Puį¹‡į¹‡a son of Mantāį¹‡Ä«,

āyasmāpi kho upāli sambahulehi bhikkhÅ«hi saddhiį¹ bhagavato avidÅ«re caį¹…kamati; Venerable Upāli,

āyasmāpi kho ānando sambahulehi bhikkhÅ«hi saddhiį¹ bhagavato avidÅ«re caį¹…kamati; Venerable Ānanda,

devadattopi kho sambahulehi bhikkhÅ«hi saddhiį¹ bhagavato avidÅ«re caį¹…kamati. and Devadatta.

Atha kho bhagavā bhikkhū āmantesi: Then the Buddha said to the mendicants,

ā€œpassatha no tumhe, bhikkhave, sāriputtaį¹ sambahulehi bhikkhÅ«hi saddhiį¹ caį¹…kamantanā€ti? ā€œMendicants, do you see Sāriputta walking together with several mendicants?ā€

ā€œEvaį¹, bhanteā€. ā€œYes, sir.ā€

ā€œSabbe kho ete, bhikkhave, bhikkhÅ« mahāpaƱƱā. ā€œAll of those mendicants have great wisdom.

Passatha no tumhe, bhikkhave, moggallānaį¹ sambahulehi bhikkhÅ«hi saddhiį¹ caį¹…kamantanā€ti? Do you see Moggallāna walking together with several mendicants?ā€

ā€œEvaį¹, bhanteā€. ā€œYes, sir.ā€

ā€œSabbe kho ete, bhikkhave, bhikkhÅ« mahiddhikā. ā€œAll of those mendicants have great psychic power.

Passatha no tumhe, bhikkhave, kassapaį¹ sambahulehi bhikkhÅ«hi saddhiį¹ caį¹…kamantanā€ti? Do you see Kassapa walking together with several mendicants?ā€

ā€œEvaį¹, bhanteā€. ā€œYes, sir.ā€

ā€œSabbe kho ete, bhikkhave, bhikkhÅ« dhutavādā. ā€œAll of those mendicants advocate austerities.

Passatha no tumhe, bhikkhave, anuruddhaį¹ sambahulehi bhikkhÅ«hi saddhiį¹ caį¹…kamantanā€ti? Do you see Anuruddha walking together with several mendicants?ā€

ā€œEvaį¹, bhanteā€. ā€œYes, sir.ā€

ā€œSabbe kho ete, bhikkhave, bhikkhÅ« dibbacakkhukā. ā€œAll of those mendicants have clairvoyance.

Passatha no tumhe, bhikkhave, puį¹‡į¹‡aį¹ mantāniputtaį¹ sambahulehi bhikkhÅ«hi saddhiį¹ caį¹…kamantanā€ti? Do you see Puį¹‡į¹‡a son of Mantāį¹‡Ä« walking together with several mendicants?ā€

ā€œEvaį¹, bhanteā€. ā€œYes, sir.ā€

ā€œSabbe kho ete, bhikkhave, bhikkhÅ« dhammakathikā. ā€œAll of those mendicants are Dhamma speakers.

Passatha no tumhe, bhikkhave, upāliį¹ sambahulehi bhikkhÅ«hi saddhiį¹ caį¹…kamantanā€ti? Do you see Upāli walking together with several mendicants?ā€

ā€œEvaį¹, bhanteā€. ā€œYes, sir.ā€

ā€œSabbe kho ete, bhikkhave, bhikkhÅ« vinayadharā. ā€œAll of those mendicants are experts in monastic law.

Passatha no tumhe, bhikkhave, ānandaį¹ sambahulehi bhikkhÅ«hi saddhiį¹ caį¹…kamantanā€ti? Do you see Ānanda walking together with several mendicants?ā€

ā€œEvaį¹, bhanteā€. ā€œYes, sir.ā€

ā€œSabbe kho ete, bhikkhave, bhikkhÅ« bahussutā. ā€œAll of those mendicants are very learned.

Passatha no tumhe, bhikkhave, devadattaį¹ sambahulehi bhikkhÅ«hi saddhiį¹ caį¹…kamantanā€ti? Do you see Devadatta walking together with several mendicants?ā€

ā€œEvaį¹, bhanteā€. ā€œYes, sir.ā€

ā€œSabbe kho ete, bhikkhave, bhikkhÅ« pāpicchā. ā€œAll of those mendicants have corrupt wishes.

Dhātusova, bhikkhave, sattā saį¹sandanti samenti. Sentient beings come together and converge because of an element.

HÄ«nādhimuttikā hÄ«nādhimuttikehi saddhiį¹ saį¹sandanti samenti; Those who have bad convictions come together and converge with those who have bad convictions.

kalyāį¹‡Ädhimuttikā kalyāį¹‡Ädhimuttikehi saddhiį¹ saį¹sandanti samenti. Those who have good convictions come together and converge with those who have good convictions.

AtÄ«tampi kho, bhikkhave, addhānaį¹ dhātusova sattā saį¹sandiį¹su samiį¹su. In the past,

HÄ«nādhimuttikā hÄ«nādhimuttikehi saddhiį¹ saį¹sandiį¹su samiį¹su;

kalyāį¹‡Ädhimuttikā kalyāį¹‡Ädhimuttikehi saddhiį¹ saį¹sandiį¹su samiį¹su.

Anāgatampi kho, bhikkhave, addhānaį¹ dhātusova sattā saį¹sandissanti samessanti. in the future,

HÄ«nādhimuttikā hÄ«nādhimuttikehi saddhiį¹ saį¹sandissanti samessanti;

kalyāį¹‡Ädhimuttikā kalyāį¹‡Ädhimuttikehi saddhiį¹ saį¹sandissanti samessanti.

Etarahipi kho, bhikkhave, paccuppannaį¹ addhānaį¹ dhātusova sattā saį¹sandanti samenti. and also in the present, sentient beings come together and converge because of an element.

HÄ«nādhimuttikā hÄ«nādhimuttikehi saddhiį¹ saį¹sandanti samenti; Those who have bad convictions come together and converge with those who have bad convictions.

kalyāį¹‡Ädhimuttikā kalyāį¹‡Ädhimuttikehi saddhiį¹ saį¹sandanti samentÄ«ā€ti. Those who have good convictions come together and converge with those who have good convictions.ā€
