Iā€™ve seen clearly with wisdom the full extent of gratification in the earth element.

I went in search of the earth elementā€™s drawback, and I found it. Iā€™ve seen clearly with wisdom the full extent of the drawback in the earth element.

I went in search of escape from the earth element, and I found it. Iā€™ve seen clearly with wisdom the full extent of escape from the earth element.

As long as I didnā€™t truly understand these four elementsā€™ gratification, drawback, and escape for what they are, I didnā€™t announce my supreme perfect awakening in this world with its gods, Māras, and Divinities, this population with its ascetics and brahmins, its gods and humans.

But when I did truly understand the four elementsā€™ gratification, drawback, and escape for what they are, I announced my supreme perfect awakening in this world with its gods, Māras, and Divinities, this population with its ascetics and brahmins, its gods and humans.

Ƒāį¹‡aƱca pana me dassanaį¹ udapādi: Knowledge and vision arose in me:

ā€˜akuppā me vimutti, ayamantimā jāti, natthi dāni punabbhavoā€™ā€ti. ā€˜My freedom is unshakable; this is my last rebirth; now thereā€™ll be no more future lives.ā€™ā€
