ā€œYe hi keci, bhikkhave, samaį¹‡Ä vā brāhmaį¹‡Ä vā pathavÄ«dhātuį¹ nappajānanti, pathavÄ«dhātusamudayaį¹ nappajānanti, pathavÄ«dhātunirodhaį¹ nappajānanti, pathavÄ«dhātunirodhagāminiį¹ paį¹­ipadaį¹ nappajānanti ā€¦peā€¦ ā€œMendicants, there are ascetics and brahmins who donā€™t understand the earth element, its origin, its cessation, and the practice that leads to its cessation.

vāyodhātuį¹ nappajānanti, vāyodhātusamudayaį¹ nappajānanti, vāyodhātunirodhaį¹ nappajānanti, vāyodhātunirodhagāminiį¹ paį¹­ipadaį¹ nappajānanti, na me te, bhikkhave, samaį¹‡Ä vā brāhmaį¹‡Ä vā samaį¹‡esu vā samaį¹‡asammatā brāhmaį¹‡esu vā brāhmaį¹‡asammatā; air element ā€¦

na ca pana te āyasmanto sāmaƱƱatthaį¹ vā brahmaƱƱatthaį¹ vā diį¹­į¹­heva dhamme sayaį¹ abhiƱƱā sacchikatvā upasampajja viharanti. Those venerables donā€™t realize the goal of life as an ascetic or brahmin, and donā€™t live having realized it with their own insight.

Ye ca kho keci, bhikkhave, samaį¹‡Ä vā brāhmaį¹‡Ä vā pathavÄ«dhātuį¹ pajānanti, pathavÄ«dhātusamudayaį¹ pajānanti, pathavÄ«dhātunirodhaį¹ pajānanti, pathavÄ«dhātunirodhagāminiį¹ paį¹­ipadaį¹ pajānanti ā€¦ There are ascetics and brahmins who do understand the earth element, its origin, its cessation, and the practice that leads to its cessation.
