Ekaį¹ samayaį¹ bhagavā sāvatthiyaį¹ viharati. At one time the Buddha was staying near SāvatthÄ«.

Tatra kho ā€¦peā€¦

ā€œAnamataggoyaį¹, bhikkhave, saį¹sāro. ā€œMendicants, transmigration has no known beginning.

Pubbā koį¹­i na paƱƱāyati avijjānÄ«varaį¹‡Änaį¹ sattānaį¹ taį¹‡hāsaį¹yojanānaį¹ sandhāvataį¹ saį¹sarataį¹. No first point is found of sentient beings roaming and transmigrating, shrouded by ignorance and fettered by craving.

Yaį¹, bhikkhave, passeyyātha duggataį¹ durÅ«petaį¹ niį¹­į¹­hamettha gantabbaį¹: When you see someone in a sorry state, in distress, you should conclude:

ā€˜amhehipi evarÅ«paį¹ paccanubhÅ«taį¹ iminā dÄ«ghena addhunāā€™ti. ā€˜In all this long time, we too have undergone the same thing.ā€™

Taį¹ kissa hetu ā€¦peā€¦ Why is that? Transmigration has no known beginning. ā€¦

yāvaƱcidaį¹, bhikkhave, alameva sabbasaį¹…khāresu nibbindituį¹ alaį¹ virajjituį¹ alaį¹ vimuccitunā€ti. This is quite enough for you to become disillusioned, dispassionate, and freed regarding all conditions.ā€
