ā€œDāruį¹‡o, bhikkhave, lābhasakkārasiloko ā€¦peā€¦ ā€œPossessions, honor, and popularity are brutal ā€¦

idhāhaį¹, bhikkhave, ekaccaį¹ puggalaį¹ evaį¹ cetasā ceto paricca pajānāmi: When Iā€™ve comprehended the mind of a certain person, I understand:

ā€˜na cāyamāyasmā rÅ«piyapātiyāpi suvaį¹‡į¹‡acuį¹‡į¹‡aparipÅ«rāya hetu sampajānamusā bhāseyyāā€™ti. ā€˜This venerable would not tell a deliberate lie even for the sake of a silver pot filled with gold powder.ā€™

Tamenaį¹ passāmi aparena samayena lābhasakkārasilokena abhibhÅ«taį¹ pariyādiį¹‡į¹‡acittaį¹ sampajānamusā bhāsantaį¹. But some time later I see them tell a deliberate lie because their mind is overcome and overwhelmed by possessions, honor, and popularity.

Evaį¹ dāruį¹‡o kho, bhikkhave, lābhasakkārasiloko ā€¦peā€¦ So brutal are possessions, honor, and popularity. ā€¦ā€

evaƱhi vo, bhikkhave, sikkhitabbanā€ti.
