āYe hi keci, bhikkhave, samaį¹Ä vÄ brÄhmaį¹Ä vÄ lÄbhasakkÄrasilokassa assÄdaƱca ÄdÄ«navaƱca nissaraį¹aƱca yathÄbhÅ«taį¹ nappajÄnanti, āMendicants, there are ascetics and brahmins who donāt truly understand the gratification, drawback, and escape when it comes to possessions, honor, and popularity.
na me te, bhikkhave, samaį¹Ä vÄ brÄhmaį¹Ä vÄ samaį¹esu vÄ samaį¹asammatÄ brÄhmaį¹esu vÄ brÄhmaį¹asammatÄ, na ca pana te ÄyasmantÄ sÄmaƱƱatthaį¹ vÄ brahmaƱƱatthaį¹ vÄ diį¹į¹heva dhamme sayaį¹ abhiĆ±Ć±Ä sacchikatvÄ upasampajja viharanti. I donāt deem them as true ascetics and brahmins. Those venerables donāt realize the goal of life as an ascetic or brahmin, and donāt live having realized it with their own insight.
