Gūthakhādasutta A Dung Eater

ā€œIdhāhaį¹, āvuso, gijjhakÅ«į¹­Ä pabbatā orohanto addasaį¹ purisaį¹ gÅ«thakÅ«pe nimuggaį¹ ubhohi hatthehi gÅ«thaį¹ khādantaį¹ ā€¦peā€¦ ā€œJust now, reverend, as I was descending from Vultureā€™s Peak Mountain I saw a man sunk in a sewer, eating dung with both hands. ā€¦ā€ ā€¦

eso, bhikkhave, satto imasmiį¹yeva rājagahe duį¹­į¹­habrāhmaį¹‡o ahosi. ā€œThat being used to be a nasty brahmin right here in Rājagaha.

So kassapassa sammāsambuddhassa pāvacane bhikkhusaį¹…ghaį¹ bhattena nimantetvā doį¹‡iyo gÅ«thassa pÅ«rāpetvā etadavocaā€”In the time of the Buddha Kassapaā€™s dispensation he invited the Saį¹…gha of mendicants for a meal. He filled a trough with dung and said:

aho bhonto yāvadatthaį¹ bhuƱjantu ceva harantu cāā€™ti ā€¦peā€¦. ā€˜My good men, eat as much as you like, and take whatā€™s left.ā€™ ā€¦ā€
