Sahetuanattasutta Not-Self With Its Cause

Sāvatthinidānaį¹. At SāvatthÄ«.

ā€œRÅ«paį¹, bhikkhave, anattā. ā€œMendicants, form is not-self.

Yopi hetu yopi paccayo rūpassa uppādāya, sopi anattā. The cause and reason that gives rise to form is also not-self.

AnattasambhÅ«taį¹, bhikkhave, rÅ«paį¹ kuto attā bhavissati. Since form is produced by what is not-self, how could it be self?

Vedanā anattā ā€¦ Feeling is not-self ā€¦

saƱƱā anattā ā€¦ Perception is not-self ā€¦

saį¹…khārā anattā ā€¦ Choices are not-self ā€¦

viƱƱāį¹‡aį¹ anattā. Consciousness is not-self.

Yopi hetu yopi paccayo viƱƱāį¹‡assa uppādāya, sopi anattā. The cause and reason that gives rise to consciousness is also not-self.

AnattasambhÅ«taį¹, bhikkhave, viƱƱāį¹‡aį¹ kuto attā bhavissati. Since consciousness is produced by what is not-self, how could it be self?
