Aniccasutta Impermanence

Sāvatthinidānaį¹. At SāvatthÄ«.

ā€œRÅ«paį¹, bhikkhave, aniccaį¹. ā€œMendicants, form is impermanent.

Yadaniccaį¹ taį¹ dukkhaį¹; Whatā€™s impermanent is suffering.

yaį¹ dukkhaį¹ tadanattā; Whatā€™s suffering is not-self.

yadanattā taį¹ ā€˜netaį¹ mama, nesohamasmi, na meso attāā€™ti evametaį¹ yathābhÅ«taį¹ sammappaƱƱāya daį¹­į¹­habbaį¹. And whatā€™s not-self should be truly seen with right understanding like this: ā€˜This is not mine, I am not this, this is not my self.ā€™

Evametaį¹ yathābhÅ«taį¹ sammappaƱƱāya passato cittaį¹ virajjati vimuccati anupādāya āsavehi. Seeing truly with right understanding like this, the mind becomes dispassionate and freed from defilements by not grasping.

saį¹…khārā ā€¦ Choices ā€¦

viƱƱāį¹‡aį¹ aniccaį¹. Consciousness is impermanent.

Yadaniccaį¹ taį¹ dukkhaį¹; Whatā€™s impermanent is suffering.

yaį¹ dukkhaį¹ tadanattā; Whatā€™s suffering is not-self.

RÅ«padhātuyā ce, bhikkhave, bhikkhuno cittaį¹ virattaį¹ vimuttaį¹ hoti anupādāya āsavehi, vedanādhātuyā ā€¦peā€¦ If a mendicantā€™s mind is dispassionate towards the form element, the feeling element,

saƱƱādhātuyā ā€¦ the perception element,

saį¹…khāradhātuyā ā€¦ the choices element,

viƱƱāį¹‡adhātuyā ce, bhikkhave, bhikkhuno cittaį¹ virattaį¹ vimuttaį¹ hoti anupādāya āsavehi. and the consciousness element, itā€™s freed from defilements by not grasping.

Vimuttattā į¹­hitaį¹. į¹¬hitattā santusitaį¹. Santusitattā na paritassati. Aparitassaį¹ paccattaƱƱeva parinibbāyati. Being free, itā€™s stable. Being stable, itā€™s content. Being content, theyā€™re not anxious. Not being anxious, they personally become extinguished.

ā€˜KhÄ«į¹‡Ä jāti, vusitaį¹ brahmacariyaį¹, kataį¹ karaį¹‡Ä«yaį¹, nāparaį¹ itthattāyāā€™ti pajānātÄ«ā€ti. They understand: ā€˜Rebirth is ended, the spiritual journey has been completed, what had to be done has been done, there is nothing further for this place.ā€™ā€
