Dutiyachandappahānasutta Giving Up Desire (2nd)

Sāvatthinidānaį¹. At SāvatthÄ«.

ā€œRÅ«pe, bhikkhave, yo chando yo rāgo yā nandÄ« yā taį¹‡hā ye upayupādānā cetaso adhiį¹­į¹­hānābhinivesānusayā, te pajahatha. ā€œMendicants, you should give up any desire, greed, relishing, and craving for form; and any attraction, grasping, mental fixation, insistence, and underlying tendencies.

Evaį¹ taį¹ rÅ«paį¹ pahÄ«naį¹ bhavissati ucchinnamÅ«laį¹ ā€¦peā€¦ Thus that form will be given up, cut off at the root, made like a palm stump, obliterated, and unable to arise in the future.

Evaį¹ taį¹ viƱƱāį¹‡aį¹ pahÄ«naį¹ bhavissati ucchinnamÅ«laį¹ tālāvatthukataį¹ anabhāvaį¹…kataį¹ āyatiį¹ anuppādadhammanā€ti. Thus that consciousness will be given up, cut off at the root, made like a palm stump, obliterated, and unable to arise in the future.ā€
