Bhavanettisutta The Conduit To Rebirth

Sāvatthinidānaį¹. At SāvatthÄ«.

Ekamantaį¹ nisinno kho āyasmā rādho bhagavantaį¹ etadavoca: Seated to one side, Venerable Rādha said to the Buddha:

ā€œā€˜bhavanettinirodho, bhavanettinirodhoā€™ti, bhante, vuccati. ā€œSir, they speak of this thing called ā€˜the cessation of the conduit to rebirthā€™.

Katamā nu kho, bhante, bhavanetti, katamo bhavanettinirodhoā€ti? What is the conduit to rebirth? And what is the cessation of the conduit to rebirth?ā€

ā€œRÅ«pe kho, rādha, yo chando yo rāgo yā nandÄ« yā taį¹‡hā ye upayupādānā cetaso adhiį¹­į¹­hānābhinivesānusayāā€”ā€œRādha, any desire, greed, relishing, and craving for form; and any attraction, grasping, mental fixation, insistence, and underlying tendenciesā€”

ayaį¹ vuccati bhavanetti. this is called the conduit to rebirth.

Tesaį¹ nirodho bhavanettinirodho. Their cessation is the cessation of the conduit to rebirth.

Vedanāya ā€¦ Any desire, greed, relishing, and craving for feeling ā€¦

saƱƱāya ā€¦ perception ā€¦

saį¹…khāresu ā€¦ choices ā€¦
