PariƱƱeyyasutta Should Be Completely Understood

ÄyasmÄ rÄdho yena bhagavÄ tenupasaį¹
kami; upasaį¹
kamitvÄ bhagavantaį¹ abhivÄdetvÄ ekamantaį¹ nisÄ«di. Ekamantaį¹ nisinnaį¹ kho Äyasmantaį¹ rÄdhaį¹ bhagavÄ etadavoca: Then Venerable RÄdha went up to the Buddha, bowed, and sat down to one side. The Buddha said to him:
āPariƱƱeyye ca, rÄdha, dhamme desessÄmi pariƱƱaƱca pariƱƱÄtÄviį¹ puggalaƱca. āRÄdha, I will teach you the things that should be completely understood, complete understanding, and the person who has completely understood.
Taį¹ suį¹Ähi, sÄdhukaį¹ manasi karohi; bhÄsissÄmÄ«āti. Listen and apply your mind well, I will speak.ā
āEvaį¹, bhanteāti kho ÄyasmÄ rÄdho bhagavato paccassosi. āYes, sir,ā RÄdha replied.
BhagavÄ etadavoca: The Buddha said this:
ākatame ca, rÄdha, pariƱƱeyyÄ dhammÄ? āAnd what things should be completely understood?
RÅ«paį¹ kho, rÄdha, pariƱƱeyyo dhammo, vedanÄ pariƱƱeyyo dhammo, saĆ±Ć±Ä pariƱƱeyyo dhammo, saį¹
khÄrÄ pariƱƱeyyo dhammo, viƱƱÄį¹aį¹ pariƱƱeyyo dhammo. Form, feeling, perception, choices, and consciousness.
Ime vuccanti, rÄdha, pariƱƱeyyÄ dhammÄ. These are called the things that should be completely understood.
KatamÄ ca, rÄdha, pariƱƱÄ? And what is complete understanding?
Yo kho, rÄdha, rÄgakkhayo dosakkhayo mohakkhayoāThe ending of greed, hate, and delusion.
ayaį¹ vuccati, rÄdha, pariƱƱÄ. This is called complete understanding.
Katamo ca, rÄdha, pariƱƱÄtÄvÄ« puggalo? And what is the person who has completely understood?
āArahÄātissa vacanÄ«yaį¹. It should be said: a perfected one,
YvÄyaį¹ ÄyasmÄ evaį¹nÄmo evaį¹
gottoāthe venerable of such and such name and clan.
ayaį¹ vuccati, rÄdha, pariƱƱÄtÄvÄ« puggaloāti. This is called the person who has completely understood.ā
