āko nu kho, bhante, hetu, ko paccayo, yena māidhekacce opapÄtikÄ nÄgÄ uposathaį¹ upavasanti vossaį¹į¹hakÄyÄ ca bhavantÄ«āti? āSir, what is the cause, what is the reason why some spontaneously-born dragons keep the sabbath, having transformed their bodies?ā
āIdha, bhikkhu, ekaccÄnaį¹ opapÄtikÄnaį¹ nÄgÄnaį¹ evaį¹ hoti: āMendicant, itās when some spontaneously-born dragons think:
āmayaį¹ kho pubbe kÄyena dvayakÄrino ahumha, vÄcÄya dvayakÄrino, manasÄ dvayakÄrino. āIn the past we did both kinds of deeds by body, speech, and mind.
Te mayaį¹ kÄyena dvayakÄrino, vÄcÄya dvayakÄrino, manasÄ dvayakÄrino, kÄyassa bhedÄ paraį¹ maraį¹Ä opapÄtikÄnaį¹ nÄgÄnaį¹ sahabyataį¹ upapannÄ. When the body broke up, after death, we were reborn in the company of the spontaneously-born dragons.

If today we do good things by body, speech, and mind, when the body breaks up, after death, we may be reborn in a good place, a heavenly realm.
Handa mayaį¹ etarahi kÄyena sucaritaį¹ carÄma, vÄcÄya ā¦ manasÄ sucaritaį¹ carÄmÄāti. Come, let us do good things by way of body, speech, and mind.ā
