Ekamantaį¹ nisinno kho so bhikkhu bhagavantaį¹ etadavoca: Seated to one side, that mendicant said to the Buddha:
āko nu kho, bhante, hetu, ko paccayo, yenekadÄ uį¹haį¹ hotÄ«āti? āSir, what is the cause, what is the reason why sometimes it becomes warm?ā
āSanti, bhikkhu, uį¹havalÄhakÄ nÄma devÄ. āMendicant, there are what are called gods of the warm clouds.
Tesaį¹ yadÄ evaį¹ hoti: Sometimes they think:
āyannÅ«na mayaį¹ sakÄya ratiyÄ vaseyyÄmÄāti, tesaį¹ taį¹ cetopaį¹idhimanvÄya uį¹haį¹ hoti. āWhy donāt we revel in our own kind of enjoyment?ā Then, in accordance with their wish, it becomes warm.
Ayaį¹ kho, bhikkhu, hetu, ayaį¹ paccayo, yenekadÄ uį¹haį¹ hotÄ«āti. This is the cause, this is the reason why sometimes it becomes warm.ā
