VedanāaƱƱāį¹‡asutta Not Knowing Feeling

Sāvatthinidānaį¹. At SāvatthÄ«.

Ekamantaį¹ nisinno kho vacchagotto paribbājako bhagavantaį¹ etadavoca: Then the wanderer Vacchagotta said to the Buddha:

ā€œko nu kho, bho gotama, hetu, ko paccayo, yānimāni anekavihitāni diį¹­į¹­higatāni loke uppajjantiā€”ā€œWhat is the cause, worthy Gotama, what is the reason why these various misconceptions arise in the world? That is:

sassato lokoti vā, asassato lokoti vā ā€¦peā€¦ the cosmos is eternal, or not eternal ā€¦

neva hoti na na hoti tathāgato paraį¹ maraį¹‡Äti vāā€ti? after death, a realized one neither still exists nor no longer exists.ā€

ā€œVedanāya kho, vaccha, aƱƱāį¹‡Ä, vedanāsamudaye aƱƱāį¹‡Ä, vedanānirodhe aƱƱāį¹‡Ä, vedanānirodhagāminiyā paį¹­ipadāya aƱƱāį¹‡Ä; ā€œVaccha, it is because of not knowing feeling, its origin, its cessation, and the practice that leads to its cessation

evamimāni anekavihitāni diį¹­į¹­higatāni loke uppajjantiā€”that these various misconceptions arise in the world.

sassato lokoti vā, asassato lokoti vā ā€¦peā€¦

neva hoti na na hoti tathāgato paraį¹ maraį¹‡Äti vāti.

Ayaį¹ kho, vaccha, hetu, ayaį¹ paccayo, yānimāni anekavihitāni diį¹­į¹­higatāni loke uppajjantiā€”This is the cause, this is the reason.ā€

neva hoti na na hoti tathāgato paraį¹ maraį¹‡Äti vāā€ti.
