Bāhirāniccasutta The Exterior as Impermanent

ā€œRÅ«pā, bhikkhave, aniccā. ā€œMendicants, sights are impermanent.

Yadaniccaį¹ taį¹ dukkhaį¹; Whatā€™s impermanent is suffering.

yaį¹ dukkhaį¹ tadanattā. Whatā€™s suffering is not-self.

Yadanattā taį¹ ā€˜netaį¹ mama, nesohamasmi, na meso attāā€™ti evametaį¹ yathābhÅ«taį¹ sammappaƱƱāya daį¹­į¹­habbaį¹. And whatā€™s not-self should be truly seen with right understanding like this: ā€˜This is not mine, I am not this, this is not my self.ā€™

Saddā ā€¦ Sounds,

gandhā ā€¦ smells,

rasā ā€¦ tastes,

phoį¹­į¹­habbā ā€¦ touches,

dhammā aniccā. and ideas are impermanent.

Yadaniccaį¹ taį¹ dukkhaį¹; Whatā€™s impermanent is suffering.

yaį¹ dukkhaį¹ tadanattā. Whatā€™s suffering is not-self.

Yadanattā taį¹ ā€˜netaį¹ mama, nesohamasmi, na meso attāā€™ti evametaį¹ yathābhÅ«taį¹ sammappaƱƱāya daį¹­į¹­habbaį¹. And whatā€™s not-self should be truly seen with right understanding like this: ā€˜This is not mine, I am not this, this is not my self.ā€™

Evaį¹ passaį¹, bhikkhave, sutavā ariyasāvako rÅ«pesupi nibbindati, saddesupi nibbindati, gandhesupi nibbindati, rasesupi nibbindati, phoį¹­į¹­habbesupi nibbindati, dhammesupi nibbindati. Seeing this, a learned noble disciple grows disillusioned with sights, sounds, smells, tastes, touches, and ideas.

Nibbindaį¹ virajjati; virāgā vimuccati; vimuttasmiį¹ vimuttamiti Ʊāį¹‡aį¹ hoti. Being disillusioned, desire fades away. When desire fades away theyā€™re freed. When theyā€™re freed, they know theyā€™re freed.

ā€˜KhÄ«į¹‡Ä jāti, vusitaį¹ brahmacariyaį¹, kataį¹ karaį¹‡Ä«yaį¹, nāparaį¹ itthattāyāā€™ti pajānātÄ«ā€ti. They understand: ā€˜Rebirth is ended, the spiritual journey has been completed, what had to be done has been done, there is nothing further for this place.ā€™ā€
