āSabbaį¹ vo, bhikkhave, desessÄmi. āMendicants, I will teach you the all.
Taį¹ suį¹Ätha. Listen ā¦
KiƱca, bhikkhave, sabbaį¹? And what is the all?
CakkhuƱceva rÅ«pÄ ca, sotaƱca saddÄ ca, ghÄnaƱca gandhÄ ca, jivhÄ ca rasÄ ca, kÄyo ca phoį¹į¹habbÄ ca, mano ca dhammÄ caāItās just the eye and sights, the ear and sounds, the nose and smells, the tongue and tastes, the body and touches, and the mind and ideas.
idaį¹ vuccati, bhikkhave, sabbaį¹. This is called the all.
Yo, bhikkhave, evaį¹ vadeyya: Mendicants, suppose someone was to say:
āahametaį¹ sabbaį¹ paccakkhÄya aƱƱaį¹ sabbaį¹ paƱƱÄpessÄmÄ«āti, tassa vÄcÄvatthukamevassa; āIāll reject this all and describe another all.ā Theyād have no grounds for that,
puį¹į¹ho ca na sampÄyeyya, uttariƱca vighÄtaį¹ Äpajjeyya. theyād be stumped by questions, and, in addition, theyād get frustrated.
Taį¹ kissa hetu? Why is that?
YathÄ taį¹, bhikkhave, avisayasmināti. Because theyāre out of their element.ā
