Rādhaaniccasutta With Rādha on Impermanence

Atha kho āyasmā rādho ā€¦peā€¦ The Venerable Rādha went up to the Buddha ā€¦

ekamantaį¹ nisinno kho āyasmā rādho bhagavantaį¹ etadavoca: and said to him,

ā€œsādhu me, bhante, bhagavā saį¹…khittena dhammaį¹ desetu, yamahaį¹ bhagavato dhammaį¹ sutvā eko vÅ«pakaį¹­į¹­ho appamatto ātāpÄ« pahitatto vihareyyanā€ti. ā€œSir, may the Buddha please teach me Dhamma in brief. When Iā€™ve heard it, Iā€™ll live alone, withdrawn, diligent, keen, and resolute.ā€

ā€œYaį¹ kho, rādha, aniccaį¹ tatra te chando pahātabbo. ā€œRādha, you should give up desire for what is impermanent.

KiƱca, rādha, aniccaį¹ tatra te chando pahātabbo? And what is impermanent?

Cakkhu aniccaį¹, rÅ«pā aniccā, cakkhuviƱƱāį¹‡aį¹ ā€¦ The eye, sights, eye consciousness,

cakkhusamphasso ā€¦ and eye contact are impermanent.

yampidaį¹ cakkhusamphassapaccayā uppajjati vedayitaį¹ sukhaį¹ vā dukkhaį¹ vā adukkhamasukhaį¹ vā tampi aniccaį¹. Tatra te chando pahātabbo ā€¦peā€¦ And the pleasant, painful, or neutral feeling that arises conditioned by eye contact is also impermanent. You should give up desire for it.

jivhā ā€¦ The ear ā€¦ nose ā€¦ tongue ā€¦

kāyo ā€¦ body ā€¦

mano anicco. Tatra te chando pahātabbo. The mind,

Dhammā ā€¦ ideas,

manoviƱƱāį¹‡aį¹ ā€¦ mind consciousness,

manosamphasso ā€¦ and mind contact are impermanent.

yampidaį¹ manosamphassapaccayā uppajjati vedayitaį¹ sukhaį¹ vā dukkhaį¹ vā adukkhamasukhaį¹ vā tampi aniccaį¹. Tatra te chando pahātabbo. And the pleasant, painful, or neutral feeling that arises conditioned by mind contact is also impermanent. You should give up desire for it.

Yaį¹ kho, rādha, aniccaį¹ tatra te chando pahātabboā€ti. You should give up desire for what is impermanent.ā€
