Saį¹yojaniyadhammasutta Things Prone to Being Fettered

ā€œSaį¹yojaniye ca, bhikkhave, dhamme desessāmi saį¹yojanaƱca. ā€œMendicants, I will teach you the things that are prone to being fettered, and the fetter.

Taį¹ suį¹‡Ätha. Listen ā€¦

Katame ca, bhikkhave, saį¹yojaniyā dhammā, katamaƱca saį¹yojanaį¹? What are the things that are prone to being fettered? And what is the fetter?

Santi, bhikkhave, cakkhuviƱƱeyyā rÅ«pā iį¹­į¹­hā kantā manāpā piyarÅ«pā kāmÅ«pasaį¹hitā rajanÄ«yā. There are sights known by the eye, which are likable, desirable, agreeable, pleasant, sensual, and arousing.

Ime vuccanti, bhikkhave, saį¹yojaniyā dhammā. These are called the things that are prone to being fettered.

Yo tattha chandarāgo, taį¹ tattha saį¹yojanaį¹ ā€¦peā€¦ The desire and greed for them is the fetter.

santi, bhikkhave, jivhāviƱƱeyyā rasā ā€¦peā€¦ There are sounds ā€¦ smells ā€¦ tastes ā€¦ touches ā€¦

santi, bhikkhave, manoviƱƱeyyā dhammā iį¹­į¹­hā kantā manāpā piyarÅ«pā kāmÅ«pasaį¹hitā rajanÄ«yā. thoughts known by the mind, which are likable, desirable, agreeable, pleasant, sensual, and arousing.

Ime vuccanti, bhikkhave, saį¹yojaniyā dhammā. These are called the things that are prone to being fettered.
