Aniccanibbānasappāyasutta The Impermanent as Conducive to Extinguishment

ā€œNibbānasappāyaį¹ vo, bhikkhave, paį¹­ipadaį¹ desessāmi. ā€œMendicants, I will teach you a practice thatā€™s conducive to extinguishment.

katamā ca sā, bhikkhave, nibbānasappāyā paį¹­ipadā? And what is that practice thatā€™s conducive to extinguishment?

Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu cakkhuį¹ aniccanti passati, rÅ«pā aniccāti passati, cakkhuviƱƱāį¹‡aį¹ aniccanti passati, cakkhusamphasso aniccoti passati. Yampidaį¹ cakkhusamphassapaccayā uppajjati vedayitaį¹ sukhaį¹ vā dukkhaį¹ vā adukkhamasukhaį¹ vā tampi aniccanti passati ā€¦peā€¦ Itā€™s when a mendicant sees that the eye, sights, eye consciousness, and eye contact are impermanent. And they see that the painful, pleasant, or neutral feeling that arises conditioned by eye contact is also impermanent.

jivhā aniccāti passati, rasā aniccāti passati, jivhāviƱƱāį¹‡aį¹ aniccanti passati, jivhāsamphasso aniccoti passati, yampidaį¹ jivhāsamphassapaccayā uppajjati vedayitaį¹ sukhaį¹ vā dukkhaį¹ vā adukkhamasukhaį¹ vā tampi aniccanti passati ā€¦peā€¦ They see that the ear ā€¦ nose ā€¦ tongue ā€¦ body ā€¦

mano aniccoti passati, dhammā aniccāti passati, manoviƱƱāį¹‡aį¹ aniccanti passati, manosamphasso aniccoti passati, yampidaį¹ manosamphassapaccayā uppajjati vedayitaį¹ sukhaį¹ vā dukkhaį¹ vā adukkhamasukhaį¹ vā tampi aniccanti passati. mind, ideas, mind-consciousness, and mind contact are impermanent. And they see that the painful, pleasant, or neutral feeling that arises conditioned by mind contact is also impermanent.

Ayaį¹ kho sā, bhikkhave, nibbānasappāyā paį¹­ipadāā€ti. This is that practice thatā€™s conducive to extinguishment.ā€
