JÄ«vakambavanasamādhisutta On Immersion at JÄ«vakaā€™s Mango Grove

Ekaį¹ samayaį¹ bhagavā rājagahe viharati jÄ«vakambavane. At one time the Buddha was staying near Rājagaha in JÄ«vakaā€™s Mango Grove.

Tatra kho bhagavā bhikkhū āmantesi: There the Buddha addressed the mendicants:

ā€œbhikkhavoā€ti ā€¦peā€¦

ā€œsamādhiį¹, bhikkhave, bhāvetha. ā€œMendicants, develop immersion.

Samāhitassa, bhikkhave, bhikkhuno yathābhÅ«taį¹ okkhāyati. For a mendicant with immersion, things become truly clear.

KiƱca yathābhÅ«taį¹ okkhāyati? And what becomes truly clear?

Cakkhuį¹ aniccanti yathābhÅ«taį¹ okkhāyati, rÅ«pā aniccāti yathābhÅ«taį¹ okkhāyati, cakkhuviƱƱāį¹‡aį¹ aniccanti yathābhÅ«taį¹ okkhāyati, cakkhusamphasso aniccoti yathābhÅ«taį¹ okkhāyati, yampidaį¹ cakkhusamphassapaccayā uppajjati vedayitaį¹ sukhaį¹ vā dukkhaį¹ vā adukkhamasukhaį¹ vā tampi aniccanti yathābhÅ«taį¹ okkhāyati ā€¦peā€¦ It becomes truly clear that the eye, sights, eye consciousness, and eye contact are impermanent. And it also becomes truly clear that the painful, pleasant, or neutral feeling that arises conditioned by eye contact is impermanent.

jivhā aniccāti yathābhÅ«taį¹ okkhāyati ā€¦peā€¦ It becomes truly clear that the ear ā€¦ nose ā€¦ tongue ā€¦ body ā€¦

mano aniccoti yathābhÅ«taį¹ okkhāyati, dhammā aniccāti yathābhÅ«taį¹ okkhāyati ā€¦peā€¦ mind, ideas, mind consciousness, and mind contact are impermanent.

yampidaį¹ manosamphassapaccayā uppajjati vedayitaį¹ sukhaį¹ vā dukkhaį¹ vā adukkhamasukhaį¹ vā tampi aniccanti yathābhÅ«taį¹ okkhāyati. And it also becomes truly clear that the painful, pleasant, or neutral feeling that arises conditioned by mind contact is impermanent.

Samādhiį¹, bhikkhave, bhāvetha. Mendicants, develop immersion.

Samāhitassa, bhikkhave, bhikkhuno yathābhÅ«taį¹ okkhāyatÄ«ā€ti. For a mendicant with immersion, things become truly clear.ā€
