VedanāpaƱhāsutta A Question About Feeling

ā€œā€˜Vedanā, vedanāā€™ti, āvuso sāriputta, vuccati. ā€œReverend Sāriputta, they speak of this thing called ā€˜feelingā€™.

Katamā nu kho, āvuso, vedanāā€ti? What is feeling?ā€

ā€œTisso imāvuso, vedanā. ā€œReverend, there are three feelings.

Katamā tisso? What three?

Sukhā vedanā, dukkhā vedanā, adukkhamasukhā vedanāā€”Pleasant, painful, and neutral feeling.

imā kho, āvuso, tisso vedanāā€ti. These are the three feelings.ā€

ā€œAtthi panāvuso, maggo atthi paį¹­ipadā, etāsaį¹ tissannaį¹ vedanānaį¹ pariƱƱāyāā€ti? ā€œBut reverend, is there a path and a practice for completely understanding these three feelings?ā€

Ayaį¹ kho, āvuso, maggo ayaį¹ paį¹­ipadā, etāsaį¹ tissannaį¹ vedanānaį¹ pariƱƱāyāā€ti.
