āKiį¹ nu kho, Ävuso sÄriputta, imasmiį¹ dhammavinaye dukkaranāti? āReverend SÄriputta, in this teaching and training, what is hard to do?ā
āPabbajjÄ kho, Ävuso, imasmiį¹ dhammavinaye dukkarÄāti. āGoing forth, reverend, is hard to do in this teaching and training.ā
āPabbajitena panÄvuso, kiį¹ dukkaranāti? āBut whatās hard to do for someone who has gone forth?ā
āPabbajitena kho, Ävuso, abhirati dukkarÄāti. āWhen youāve gone forth itās hard to be satisfied.ā
āAbhiratena panÄvuso, kiį¹ dukkaranāti? āBut whatās hard to do for someone who is satisfied?ā
āAbhiratena kho, Ävuso, dhammÄnudhammappaį¹ipatti dukkarÄāti. āWhen youāre satisfied, itās hard to practice in line with the teaching.ā
āKÄ«vaciraį¹ panÄvuso, dhammÄnudhammappaį¹ipanno bhikkhu arahaį¹ assÄāti? āBut if a mendicant practices in line with the teaching, will it take them long to become a perfected one?ā
