Atha kho aƱƱataro bhikkhu yena bhagavÄ tenupasaį¹
kami ā¦peā¦ ekamantaį¹ nisinno kho so bhikkhu bhagavantaį¹ etadavoca: Then a mendicant went up to the Buddha ā¦ and asked him,
āābrahmacariyaį¹, brahmacariyanāti, bhante, vuccati. āSir, they speak of this thing called the āspiritual pathā.
Katamaį¹ nu kho, bhante, brahmacariyaį¹, katamaį¹ brahmacariyapariyosÄnanāti? What is the spiritual path? And what is the culmination of the spiritual path?ā
āAyameva kho, bhikkhu, ariyo aį¹į¹haį¹
giko maggo brahmacariyaį¹, seyyathidaį¹āāMendicant, the spiritual path is simply this noble eightfold path, that is:
sammÄdiį¹į¹hi ā¦peā¦ sammÄsamÄdhi. right view, right thought, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and right immersion.
Yo kho, bhikkhu, rÄgakkhayo dosakkhayo mohakkhayoāThe ending of greed, hate, and delusion.
idaį¹ brahmacariyapariyosÄnanāti. This is the culmination of the spiritual path.ā
