Paį¹­hamabrahmaƱƱasutta The Brahmin Life (1st)

Sāvatthinidānaį¹. At SāvatthÄ«.

ā€œBrahmaƱƱaƱca vo, bhikkhave, desessāmi, brahmaƱƱaphalāni ca. ā€œMendicants, I will teach you life as a brahmin and the fruits of life as a brahmin.

Taį¹ suį¹‡Ätha. Listen ā€¦

KatamaƱca kho, bhikkhave, brahmaƱƱaį¹? And what is life as a brahmin?

Ayameva ariyo aį¹­į¹­haį¹…giko maggo, seyyathidaį¹ā€”It is simply this noble eightfold path, that is:

sammādiį¹­į¹­hi ā€¦peā€¦ sammāsamādhi. right view, right thought, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and right immersion.

Idaį¹ vuccati, bhikkhave, brahmaƱƱaį¹. This is called life as a brahmin.

Katamāni ca, bhikkhave, brahmaƱƱaphalāni? And what are the fruits of life as a brahmin?

Sotāpattiphalaį¹, sakadāgāmiphalaį¹, anāgāmiphalaį¹, arahattaphalaį¹ā€”The fruits of stream-entry, once-return, non-return, and perfection.

imāni vuccanti, bhikkhave, brahmaƱƱaphalānÄ«ā€ti. These are called the fruits of life as a brahmin.ā€
