ā€œSÅ«riyassa, bhikkhave, udayato etaį¹ pubbaį¹…gamaį¹ etaį¹ pubbanimittaį¹, yadidaį¹ā€”aruį¹‡uggaį¹; ā€œMendicants, the dawn is the forerunner and precursor of the sunrise.

evameva kho, bhikkhave, bhikkhuno ariyassa aį¹­į¹­haį¹…gikassa maggassa uppādāya etaį¹ pubbaį¹…gamaį¹ etaį¹ pubbanimittaį¹, yadidaį¹ā€”kalyāį¹‡amittatā. In the same way good friendship is the forerunner and precursor of the noble eightfold path for a mendicant.

Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu sammādiį¹­į¹­hiį¹ bhāveti vivekanissitaį¹ virāganissitaį¹ nirodhanissitaį¹ vossaggapariį¹‡Ämiį¹ ā€¦peā€¦ sammāsamādhiį¹ bhāveti vivekanissitaį¹ virāganissitaį¹ nirodhanissitaį¹ vossaggapariį¹‡Ämiį¹. Itā€™s when a mendicant develops right view, right thought, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and right immersion, which rely on seclusion, fading away, and cessation, and ripen as letting go.
