ā€œNāhaį¹, bhikkhave, aƱƱaį¹ ekadhammampi samanupassāmi, yena anuppanno vā ariyo aį¹­į¹­haį¹…giko maggo uppajjati, uppanno vā ariyo aį¹­į¹­haį¹…giko maggo bhāvanāpāripÅ«riį¹ gacchati, yathayidaį¹, bhikkhave, kalyāį¹‡amittatā. ā€œMendicants, I do not see a single thing that gives rise to the noble eightfold path, or, if itā€™s already arisen, fully develops it like good friendship.

Kalyāį¹‡amittassetaį¹, bhikkhave, bhikkhuno pāį¹­ikaį¹…khaį¹ā€”ariyaį¹ aį¹­į¹­haį¹…gikaį¹ maggaį¹ bhāvessati, ariyaį¹ aį¹­į¹­haį¹…gikaį¹ maggaį¹ bahulÄ«karissati. A mendicant with good friends can expect to develop and cultivate the noble eightfold path.

Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu sammādiį¹­į¹­hiį¹ bhāveti rāgavinayapariyosānaį¹ dosavinayapariyosānaį¹ mohavinayapariyosānaį¹ ā€¦peā€¦ sammāsamādhiį¹ bhāveti rāgavinayapariyosānaį¹ dosavinayapariyosānaį¹ mohavinayapariyosānaį¹. Itā€™s when a mendicant develops right view, right thought, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and right immersion, which culminate in the removal of greed, hate, and delusion.
