Padasutta Footprints
āSeyyathÄpi, bhikkhave, yÄni kÄnici jaį¹
galÄnaį¹ pÄį¹Änaį¹ padajÄtÄni, sabbÄni tÄni hatthipade samodhÄnaį¹ gacchanti; āThe footprints of all creatures that walk can fit inside an elephantās footprint.
hatthipadaį¹ tesaį¹ aggamakkhÄyati, yadidaį¹āmahantattena; So an elephantās footprint is said to be the biggest of them all.
evameva kho, bhikkhave, ye keci kusalÄ dhammÄ, sabbe te appamÄdamÅ«lakÄ appamÄdasamosaraį¹Ä; appamÄdo tesaį¹ dhammÄnaį¹ aggamakkhÄyati. In the same way, all skillful qualities are rooted in diligence and meet at diligence, and diligence is said to be the best of them.

Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu sammÄdiį¹į¹hiį¹ bhÄveti vivekanissitaį¹ virÄganissitaį¹ nirodhanissitaį¹ vossaggapariį¹Ämiį¹ ā¦peā¦ sammÄsamÄdhiį¹ bhÄveti vivekanissitaį¹ virÄganissitaį¹ nirodhanissitaį¹ vossaggapariį¹Ämiį¹ ā¦ Itās when a mendicant develops right view, right thought, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and right immersion, which rely on seclusion, fading away, and cessation, and ripen as letting go. ā¦
