Upakkilesasutta Corruptions

ā€œPaƱcime, bhikkhave, jātarÅ«passa upakkilesā, yehi upakkilesehi upakkiliį¹­į¹­haį¹ jātarÅ«paį¹ na ceva mudu hoti na ca kammaniyaį¹, na ca pabhassaraį¹ pabhaį¹…gu ca, na ca sammā upeti kammāya. ā€œMendicants, there are these five corruptions of native gold. When native gold is corrupted by these itā€™s not pliable, workable, or radiant, but is brittle and not completely ready for working.

Ayo, bhikkhave, jātarÅ«passa upakkileso, yena upakkilesena upakkiliį¹­į¹­haį¹ jātarÅ«paį¹ na ceva mudu hoti na ca kammaniyaį¹, na ca pabhassaraį¹ pabhaį¹…gu ca, na ca sammā upeti kammāya. Iron,

Evameva kho, bhikkhave, paƱcime cittassa upakkilesā, yehi upakkilesehi upakkiliį¹­į¹­haį¹ cittaį¹ na ceva mudu hoti na ca kammaniyaį¹, na ca pabhassaraį¹ pabhaį¹…gu ca, na ca sammā samādhiyati āsavānaį¹ khayāya. In the same way, there are these five corruptions of the mind. When the mind is corrupted by these itā€™s not pliable, workable, or radiant. Itā€™s brittle, and not rightly immersed in samādhi for the ending of defilements.

Kāmacchando, bhikkhave, cittassa upakkileso, yena upakkilesena upakkiliį¹­į¹­haį¹ cittaį¹ na ceva mudu hoti na ca kammaniyaį¹, na ca pabhassaraį¹ pabhaį¹…gu ca, na ca sammā samādhiyati āsavānaį¹ khayāya ā€¦peā€¦ Sensual desire, ill will, dullness and drowsiness, restlessness and remorse, and doubt.
