Ayonisomanasikārasutta Irrational Application of Mind

ā€œAyoniso, bhikkhave, manasikaroto anuppanno ceva kāmacchando uppajjati, uppanno ca kāmacchando bhiyyobhāvāya vepullāya saį¹vattati; anuppanno ceva byāpādo uppajjati, uppanno ca byāpādo bhiyyobhāvāya vepullāya saį¹vattati; anuppannaƱceva thinamiddhaį¹ uppajjati, uppannaƱca thinamiddhaį¹ bhiyyobhāvāya vepullāya saį¹vattati; anuppannaƱceva uddhaccakukkuccaį¹ uppajjati, uppannaƱca uddhaccakukkuccaį¹ bhiyyobhāvāya vepullāya saį¹vattati; anuppannā ceva vicikicchā uppajjati, uppannā ca vicikicchā bhiyyobhāvāya vepullāya saį¹vattatÄ«ā€ti. ā€œMendicants, when you apply the mind irrationally, sensual desire, ill will, dullness and drowsiness, restlessness and remorse, and doubt arise, and once arisen they increase and grow.ā€
