āPaƱcimÄni, bhikkhave, indriyÄni. āMendicants, there are these five faculties.
KatamÄni paƱca? What five?
Saddhindriyaį¹ ā¦peā¦ paƱƱindriyaį¹āThe faculties of faith, energy, mindfulness, immersion, and wisdom.
imÄni kho, bhikkhave, paƱcindriyÄni. These are the five faculties.
Imesaį¹ kho, bhikkhave, paƱcannaį¹ indriyÄnaį¹ samattÄ paripÅ«rattÄ arahaį¹ hoti, tato mudutarehi anÄgÄmÄ« hoti, tato mudutarehi sakadÄgÄmÄ« hoti, tato mudutarehi sotÄpanno hoti, tato mudutarehi dhammÄnusÄrÄ« hoti, tato mudutarehi saddhÄnusÄrÄ« hoti. Someone who has completed and fulfilled these five faculties is a perfected one. If they are weaker than that, theyāre a non-returner ā¦ a once-returner ā¦ a stream-enterer ā¦ a follower of teachings ā¦ a follower by faith.
Iti kho, bhikkhave, indriyavemattatÄ phalavemattatÄ hoti, phalavemattatÄ puggalavemattatÄāti. So from a diversity of faculties thereās a diversity of fruits. And from a diversity of fruits thereās a diversity of persons.ā
