Paį¹­ipannasutta Practicing

ā€œPaƱcimāni, bhikkhave, indriyāni. ā€œMendicants, there are these five faculties.

Katamāni paƱca? What five?

Saddhindriyaį¹ ā€¦peā€¦ paƱƱindriyaį¹ā€”The faculties of faith, energy, mindfulness, immersion, and wisdom.

imāni kho, bhikkhave, paƱcindriyāni. These are the five faculties.

Imesaį¹ kho, bhikkhave, paƱcannaį¹ indriyānaį¹ samattā paripÅ«rattā arahaį¹ hoti, tato mudutarehi arahattaphalasacchikiriyāya paį¹­ipanno hoti, tato mudutarehi anāgāmÄ« hoti, tato mudutarehi anāgāmiphalasacchikiriyāya paį¹­ipanno hoti, tato mudutarehi sakadāgāmÄ« hoti, tato mudutarehi sakadāgāmiphalasacchikiriyāya paį¹­ipanno hoti, tato mudutarehi sotāpanno hoti, tato mudutarehi sotāpattiphalasacchikiriyāya paį¹­ipanno hoti. Someone who has completed and fulfilled these five faculties is a perfected one. If they are weaker than that, theyā€™re practicing to realize the fruit of perfection ā€¦ a non-returner ā€¦ practicing to realize the fruit of non-return ā€¦ a once-returner ā€¦ practicing to realize the fruit of once-return ā€¦ a stream-enterer ā€¦ practicing to realize the fruit of stream-entry.

Yassa kho, bhikkhave, imāni paƱcindriyāni sabbena sabbaį¹ sabbathā sabbaį¹ natthi, tamahaį¹ ā€˜bāhiro puthujjanapakkhe į¹­hitoā€™ti vadāmÄ«ā€ti. Someone who totally and utterly lacks these five faculties is an outsider who belongs with the ordinary persons, I say.ā€
