Atha kho aƱƱataro bhikkhu yena bhagavÄ tenupasaį¹
kami; upasaį¹
kamitvÄ bhagavantaį¹ abhivÄdetvÄ ekamantaį¹ nisÄ«di. Ekamantaį¹ nisinno kho so bhikkhu bhagavantaį¹ etadavoca: Then a mendicant went up to the Buddha, bowed, sat down to one side, and said to him:
āāIndriyasampanno, indriyasampannoāti, bhante, vuccati. āSir, they speak of someone who is āaccomplished regarding the facultiesā.
KittÄvatÄ nu kho, bhante, indriyasampanno hotÄ«āti? How is someone accomplished regarding the faculties defined?ā
āIdha, bhikkhu, bhikkhu saddhindriyaį¹ bhÄveti upasamagÄmiį¹ sambodhagÄmiį¹, vÄ«riyindriyaį¹ bhÄveti upasamagÄmiį¹ sambodhagÄmiį¹, satindriyaį¹ bhÄveti upasamagÄmiį¹ sambodhagÄmiį¹, samÄdhindriyaį¹ bhÄveti upasamagÄmiį¹ sambodhagÄmiį¹, paƱƱindriyaį¹ bhÄveti upasamagÄmiį¹ sambodhagÄmiį¹. āMendicant, itās when a mendicant develops the faculties of faith, energy, mindfulness, immersion, and wisdom that lead to peace and awakening.
EttÄvatÄ kho, bhikkhu, bhikkhu indriyasampanno hotÄ«āti. This is how someone who is accomplished regarding the faculties is defined.ā
