Āsavakkhayasutta The Ending of Defilements

ā€œPaƱcimāni, bhikkhave, indriyāni. ā€œMendicants, there are these five faculties.

Katamāni paƱca? What five?

Saddhindriyaį¹ ā€¦peā€¦ paƱƱindriyaį¹ā€”The faculties of faith, energy, mindfulness, immersion, and wisdom.

imāni kho, bhikkhave, paƱcindriyāni. These are the five faculties.

Imesaį¹ kho, bhikkhave, paƱcannaį¹ indriyānaį¹ bhāvitattā bahulÄ«katattā bhikkhu āsavānaį¹ khayā anāsavaį¹ cetovimuttiį¹ paƱƱāvimuttiį¹ diį¹į¹heva dhamme sayaį¹ abhiƱƱā sacchikatvā upasampajja viharatÄ«ā€ti. Itā€™s because of developing and cultivating these five faculties that a mendicant realizes the undefiled freedom of heart and freedom by wisdom in this very life. And they live having realized it with their own insight due to the ending of defilements.ā€
