SotÄpannasutta A Stream-Enterer
āPaƱcimÄni, bhikkhave, indriyÄni. āMendicants, there are these five faculties.
KatamÄni paƱca? What five?
Sukhindriyaį¹, dukkhindriyaį¹, somanassindriyaį¹, domanassindriyaį¹, upekkhindriyaį¹. The faculties of pleasure, pain, happiness, sadness, and equanimity.
Yato kho, bhikkhave, ariyasÄvako imesaį¹ paƱcannaį¹ indriyÄnaį¹ samudayaƱca atthaį¹
gamaƱca assÄdaƱca ÄdÄ«navaƱca nissaraį¹aƱca yathÄbhÅ«taį¹ pajÄnÄtiāA noble disciple comes to truly understand these five facultiesā origin, ending, gratification, drawback, and escape.
ayaį¹ vuccati, bhikkhave, ariyasÄvako sotÄpanno avinipÄtadhammo niyato sambodhiparÄyaį¹oāti. Such a noble disciple is called a stream-enterer, not liable to be reborn in the underworld, bound for awakening.ā
