āKatinaį¹ nu kho, bhikkhave, indriyÄnaį¹ bhÄvitattÄ bahulÄ«katattÄ khÄ«į¹Äsavo bhikkhu aƱƱaį¹ byÄkaroti: āMendicants, how many faculties must a mendicant develop and cultivate so that they can declare enlightenment:
ākhÄ«į¹Ä jÄti, vusitaį¹ brahmacariyaį¹, kataį¹ karaį¹Ä«yaį¹, nÄparaį¹ itthattÄyÄāti pajÄnÄmÄ«āti? āI understand: āRebirth is ended, the spiritual journey has been completed, what had to be done has been done, there is nothing further for this placeāā?ā
āBhagavaį¹mÅ«lakÄ no, bhante, dhammÄ ā¦peā¦ āOur teachings are rooted in the Buddha. ā¦ā
ādvinnaį¹ kho, bhikkhave, indriyÄnaį¹ bhÄvitattÄ bahulÄ«katattÄ khÄ«į¹Äsavo bhikkhu aƱƱaį¹ byÄkaroti: āA mendicant must develop and cultivate two faculties so that they can declare enlightenment.

AriyÄya ca paƱƱÄya, ariyÄya ca vimuttiyÄ. Noble wisdom and noble freedom.
YÄ hissa, bhikkhave, ariyÄ paĆ±Ć±Ä tadassa paƱƱindriyaį¹. For their noble wisdom is the faculty of wisdom.
YÄ hissa, bhikkhave, ariyÄ vimutti tadassa samÄdhindriyaį¹. And their noble freedom is the faculty of immersion.
Imesaį¹ kho, bhikkhave, dvinnaį¹ indriyÄnaį¹ bhÄvitattÄ bahulÄ«katattÄ khÄ«į¹Äsavo bhikkhu aƱƱaį¹ byÄkaroti: These are the two faculties that a mendicant must develop and cultivate so that they can declare enlightenment:
