ā€œKatinaį¹ nu kho, bhikkhave, indriyānaį¹ bhāvitattā bahulÄ«katattā khÄ«į¹‡Äsavo bhikkhu aƱƱaį¹ byākaroti: ā€œMendicants, how many faculties must a mendicant develop and cultivate so that they can declare enlightenment:

ā€˜khÄ«į¹‡Ä jāti, vusitaį¹ brahmacariyaį¹, kataį¹ karaį¹‡Ä«yaį¹, nāparaį¹ itthattāyāā€™ti pajānāmÄ«ā€ti? ā€˜I understand: ā€œRebirth is ended, the spiritual journey has been completed, what had to be done has been done, there is nothing further for this placeā€ā€™?ā€

ā€œBhagavaį¹mÅ«lakā no, bhante, dhammā ā€¦peā€¦ ā€œOur teachings are rooted in the Buddha. ā€¦ā€

ā€œcatunnaį¹ kho, bhikkhave, indriyānaį¹ bhāvitattā bahulÄ«katattā khÄ«į¹‡Äsavo bhikkhu aƱƱaį¹ byākaroti: ā€œA mendicant must develop and cultivate four faculties so that they can declare enlightenment.

ā€˜khÄ«į¹‡Ä jāti, vusitaį¹ brahmacariyaį¹, kataį¹ karaį¹‡Ä«yaį¹, nāparaį¹ itthattāyāā€™ti pajānāmÄ«ti.

Katamesaį¹ catunnaį¹? What four?

VÄ«riyindriyassa, satindriyassa, samādhindriyassa, paƱƱindriyassaā€”The faculties of energy, mindfulness, immersion, and wisdom.

Imesaį¹ kho, bhikkhave, catunnaį¹ indriyānaį¹ bhāvitattā bahulÄ«katattā khÄ«į¹‡Äsavo bhikkhu aƱƱaį¹ byākaroti: These are the four faculties that a mendicant must develop and cultivate so that they can declare enlightenment:
