Bhikkhusutta A Mendicant

ā€œCattārome, bhikkhave, iddhipādā. ā€œMendicants, there are these four bases of psychic power.

Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu chandasamādhippadhānasaį¹…khārasamannāgataį¹ iddhipādaį¹ bhāveti, Itā€™s when a mendicant develops the basis of psychic power that has immersion due to enthusiasm ā€¦

vÄ«riyasamādhi ā€¦peā€¦ energy ā€¦

cittasamādhi ā€¦ mental development ā€¦

vÄ«maį¹sāsamādhippadhānasaį¹…khārasamannāgataį¹ iddhipādaį¹ bhāvetiā€”inquiry, and active effort.

ime kho, bhikkhave, cattāro iddhipādā. These are the four bases of psychic power.

Imesaį¹ kho, bhikkhave, catunnaį¹ iddhipādānaį¹ bhāvitattā bahulÄ«katattā bhikkhu āsavānaį¹ khayā anāsavaį¹ cetovimuttiį¹ paƱƱāvimuttiį¹ diį¹­į¹­heva dhamme sayaį¹ abhiƱƱā sacchikatvā upasampajja viharatÄ«ā€ti. By developing and cultivating these four bases of psychic power, a mendicant realizes the undefiled freedom of heart and freedom by wisdom in this very life. And they live having realized it with their own insight due to the ending of defilements.ā€
