Gaį¹…gānadīādisutta The Ganges River, Etc.

ā€œSeyyathāpi, bhikkhave, gaį¹…gā nadÄ« pācÄ«naninnā pācÄ«napoį¹‡Ä pācÄ«napabbhārā; ā€œMendicants, the Ganges river slants, slopes, and inclines to the east.

evameva kho, bhikkhave, bhikkhu cattāro iddhipāde bhāvento cattāro iddhipāde bahulÄ«karonto nibbānaninno hoti nibbānapoį¹‡o nibbānapabbhāro. In the same way, a mendicant who develops and cultivates the four bases of psychic power slants, slopes, and inclines to extinguishment.

KathaƱca, bhikkhave, bhikkhu cattāro iddhipāde bhāvento cattāro iddhipāde bahulÄ«karonto nibbānaninno hoti nibbānapoį¹‡o nibbānapabbhāro? And how does a mendicant who develops the four bases of psychic power slant, slope, and incline to extinguishment?

Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu chandasamādhippadhānasaį¹…khārasamannāgataį¹ iddhipādaį¹ bhāveti, Itā€™s when a mendicant develops the basis of psychic power that has immersion due to enthusiasm ā€¦

vÄ«riyasamādhi ā€¦peā€¦ energy ā€¦

cittasamādhi ā€¦ mental development ā€¦

vÄ«maį¹sāsamādhippadhānasaį¹…khārasamannāgataį¹ iddhipādaį¹ bhāveti. inquiry, and active effort.

Evaį¹ kho, bhikkhave, bhikkhu cattāro iddhipāde bhāvento cattāro iddhipāde bahulÄ«karonto nibbānaninno hoti nibbānapoį¹‡o nibbānapabbhāroā€ti. Thatā€™s how a mendicant who develops and cultivates the four bases of psychic power slants, slopes, and inclines to extinguishment.ā€

Cha pācīnato ninnā, Six on slanting to the east,

cha ninnā ca samuddato; and six on slanting to the ocean;
