Ekaį¹ samayaį¹ bhagavÄ sÄvatthiyaį¹ viharati rÄjakÄrÄme. At one time the Buddha was staying near SÄvatthÄ« in the Royal Monastery.
Atha kho sahassabhikkhunisaį¹
gho yena bhagavÄ tenupasaį¹
kami; upasaį¹
kamitvÄ bhagavantaį¹ abhivÄdetvÄ ekamantaį¹ aį¹į¹hÄsi. Ekamantaį¹ į¹hitÄ kho tÄ bhikkhuniyo bhagavÄ etadavoca: Then a Saį¹
gha of a thousand nuns went up to the Buddha, bowed, and stood to one side. The Buddha said to them:
āCatÅ«hi kho, bhikkhuniyo, dhammehi samannÄgato ariyasÄvako sotÄpanno hoti avinipÄtadhammo niyato sambodhiparÄyaį¹o. āNuns, a noble disciple who has four things is a stream-enterer, not liable to be reborn in the underworld, bound for awakening.

Imehi kho, bhikkhuniyo, catÅ«hi dhammehi samannÄgato ariyasÄvako sotÄpanno hoti avinipÄtadhammo niyato sambodhiparÄyaį¹oāti. A noble disciple who has these four things is a stream-enterer, not liable to be reborn in the underworld, bound for awakening.ā
