Ajjhattikāyatanasutta Interior Sense Fields

ā€œCattārimāni, bhikkhave, ariyasaccāni. ā€œMendicants, there are these four noble truths.

Katamāni cattāri? What four?

Dukkhaį¹ ariyasaccaį¹, dukkhasamudayaį¹ ariyasaccaį¹, dukkhanirodhaį¹ ariyasaccaį¹, dukkhanirodhagāminÄ« paį¹­ipadā ariyasaccaį¹. The noble truths of suffering, the origin of suffering, the cessation of suffering, and the practice that leads to the cessation of suffering.

KatamaƱca, bhikkhave, dukkhaį¹ ariyasaccaį¹? And what is the noble truth of suffering?

ā€˜Cha ajjhattikāni āyatanānÄ«ā€™tissa vacanÄ«yaį¹. You should say: ā€˜The six interior sense fieldsā€™.

Katamāni cha? What six?

Cakkhāyatanaį¹ ā€¦peā€¦ manāyatanaį¹ā€”The sense fields of the eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind.

idaį¹ vuccati, bhikkhave, dukkhaį¹ ariyasaccaį¹. This is called the noble truth of suffering. ā€¦ā€

KatamaƱca, bhikkhave, dukkhasamudayaį¹ ariyasaccaį¹?

Yāyaį¹ taį¹‡hā ponobbhavikā nandirāgasahagatā tatratatrābhinandinÄ«, seyyathidaį¹ā€”kāmataį¹‡hā, bhavataį¹‡hā, vibhavataį¹‡hāā€”

idaį¹ vuccati, bhikkhave, dukkhasamudayaį¹ ariyasaccaį¹.

KatamaƱca, bhikkhave, dukkhanirodhaį¹ ariyasaccaį¹?

Yo tassāyeva taį¹‡hāya asesavirāganirodho cāgo paį¹­inissaggo mutti anālayoā€”

idaį¹ vuccati, bhikkhave, dukkhanirodhaį¹ ariyasaccaį¹.

KatamaƱca, bhikkhave, dukkhanirodhagāminÄ« paį¹­ipadā ariyasaccaį¹?

Ayameva ariyo aį¹­į¹­haį¹…giko maggo, seyyathidaį¹ā€”

sammādiį¹­į¹­hi ā€¦peā€¦ sammāsamādhiā€”

idaį¹ vuccati, bhikkhave, dukkhanirodhagāminÄ« paį¹­ipadā ariyasaccaį¹.

Imāni kho, bhikkhave, cattāri ariyasaccāni.

Tasmātiha, bhikkhave, ā€˜idaį¹ dukkhanā€™ti yogo karaį¹‡Ä«yo ā€¦peā€¦ ā€˜ayaį¹ dukkhanirodhagāminÄ« paį¹­ipadāā€™ti yogo karaį¹‡Ä«yoā€ti.
