Paį¹hamasinerupabbatarÄjasutta Sineru, King of Mountains (1st)
āSeyyathÄpi, bhikkhave, puriso sinerussa pabbatarÄjassa satta muggamattiyo pÄsÄį¹asakkharÄ upanikkhipeyya. āMendicants, suppose a person was to place down on Sineru, the king of mountains, seven pebbles the size of mung beans.
Taį¹ kiį¹ maƱƱatha, bhikkhave, What do you think, mendicants?
katamaį¹ nu kho bahutaraį¹āyÄ vÄ satta muggamattiyo pÄsÄį¹asakkharÄ upanikkhittÄ, yo vÄ sinerupabbatarÄjÄāti? Which is more: the seven pebbles the size of mung beans? Or Sineru, the king of mountains?ā
āEtadeva, bhante, bahutaraį¹, yadidaį¹āsinerupabbatarÄjÄ; āSir, Sineru, the king of mountains, is certainly more.
appamattikÄ satta muggamattiyo pÄsÄį¹asakkharÄ upanikkhittÄ. The seven pebbles the size of mung beans are tiny.

khampi na upenti, upanidhampi na upenti, kalabhÄgampi na upenti sinerupabbatarÄjÄnaį¹ upanidhÄya satta muggamattiyo pÄsÄį¹asakkharÄ upanikkhittÄāti. Compared to Sineru, they donāt count, thereās no comparison, theyāre not worth a fraction.ā
āEvameva kho, bhikkhave, ariyasÄvakassa diį¹į¹hisampannassa puggalassa abhisametÄvino etadeva bahutaraį¹ dukkhaį¹ yadidaį¹ parikkhÄ«į¹aį¹ pariyÄdinnaį¹; appamattakaį¹ avasiį¹į¹haį¹. āIn the same way, for a person with comprehension, a noble disciple accomplished in view, the suffering thatās over and done with is more, whatās left is tiny.

khampi na upeti, upanidhampi na upeti, kalabhÄgampi na upeti, purimaį¹ dukkhakkhandhaį¹ parikkhÄ«į¹aį¹ pariyÄdinnaį¹ upanidhÄya yadidaį¹ sattakkhattuparamatÄ; Compared to the mass of suffering in the past thatās over and done with, it doesnāt count, thereās no comparison, itās not worth a fraction, since there are at most seven more lives.
yo āidaį¹ dukkhanāti yathÄbhÅ«taį¹ pajÄnÄti ā¦peā¦ āayaį¹ dukkhanirodhagÄminÄ« paį¹ipadÄāti yathÄbhÅ«taį¹ pajÄnÄti. Such a person truly understands about suffering, its origin, its cessation, and the path.
