A Mendicant
“Sattannaṁ, bhikkhave, dhammānaṁ bhinnattā bhikkhu hoti.
“Mendicants, it’s because of breaking seven things that you become a mendicant.
Katamesaṁ sattannaṁ?
What seven?
Sakkāyadiṭṭhi bhinnā hoti, vicikicchā bhinnā hoti, sīlabbataparāmāso bhinno hoti, rāgo bhinno hoti, doso bhinno hoti, moho bhinno hoti, māno bhinno hoti.
Substantialist view, doubt, misapprehension of precepts and observances, greed, hate, delusion, and conceit.
Imesaṁ kho, bhikkhave, sattannaṁ dhammānaṁ bhinnattā bhikkhu hotī”ti.
It’s because of breaking these seven things that you become a mendicant.”
Paṭhamaṁ.
