Dasasikkhāpada

The Ten Precepts

Pāṇātipātā veramaṇisikkhāpadaṁ samādiyāmi.
I undertake the precept to refrain from killing living creatures.

Adinnādānā veramaṇisikkhāpadaṁ samādiyāmi.
I undertake the precept to refrain from stealing.

Abrahmacariyā veramaṇisikkhāpadaṁ samādiyāmi.
I undertake the precept to refrain from sexual activity.

Musāvādā veramaṇisikkhāpadaṁ samādiyāmi.
I undertake the precept to refrain from lying.

Surāmerayamajjapamādaṭṭhānā veramaṇisikkhāpadaṁ samādiyāmi.
I undertake the precept to refrain from taking alcoholic drinks that cause negligence.

Vikālabhojanā veramaṇisikkhāpadaṁ samādiyāmi.
I undertake the precept to refrain from food at the wrong time.

Naccagītavāditavisūkadassanā veramaṇisikkhāpadaṁ samādiyāmi.
I undertake the precept to refrain from seeing shows of dancing, singing, and music .

Mālāgandhavilepanadhāraṇamaṇḍanavibhūsanaṭṭhānā veramaṇisikkhāpadaṁ samādiyāmi.
I undertake the precept to refrain from beautifying and adorning myself with garlands, perfumes, and makeup.

Uccāsayanamahāsayanā veramaṇisikkhāpadaṁ samādiyāmi.
I undertake the precept to refrain from high and luxurious beds.

Jātarūparajatapaṭiggahaṇā veramaṇisikkhāpadaṁ samādiyāmi.
I undertake the precept to refrain from receiving gold and money.
